Originally founded in 1849, Harrods is considered by many to be the world’s leading luxury department store. Located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London SW1, the imposing Harrods building, originally built between 1894 and 1905, is well known for its architecturally exuberant Baroque style – its height and scale dominate the surrounding commercial and residential streets.
The premium department store occupies a 5-acre site, has 330 departments over seven floors and covers 100,000m² of retail space. Ever since Harrods opened, its motto has been Omnia Omnibus Ubique. This is a Latin phrase, which when translated means ‘All things, for all people, everywhere.’ The motto remains entirely relevant today as the store continues to sell an extensive assortment of goods.
Henny Ltd were contracted by Clements Retail to renew flooring finishes in the men’s sport department. Refurbishment work took place during open and closed hours behind sealed hoardings to minimise noise, dust pollution and any potential disruption to the sales floor.
A new insulating screed was laid prior to stone-finished ceramic tiles being fitted throughout. Back of house was also treated to a new screed and vinyl flooring.
At all times during the refurbishment operation, Henny endeavour to maintain an exemplary standard of quality, fit and finish. The flooring refurbishment works on Harrods men’s sports department was successfully completed on schedule in May 2021.
