In August 1898, the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway construction began, which is famously known today as the Bakerloo line.
The Bakerloo line opened at Oxford Circus Station on March 10, 1906. As the London Underground grew, the station was rebuilt in 1912 and again in 1923 due to support for traffic increase.
When the Victoria Line opened at the station, the Bakerloo Line saw a renovation to support cross-platform change in 1969.
Today, Oxford Circus Station is the 4th busiest tube stop on the London Underground.
To enable continuous safe step-free access throughout the works, Henny Ltd initially installed temporary fire rated timber ramps to both Bakerloo Line platforms at Oxford Circus and a further ramp at the world-famous Paddington Station.
Upon completion we gradually replaced the temporary ramps with permanent ramps made from rapid drying concrete and paving slabs.
These works were carried out during engineering hours from 01:00 – 04:30hrs, ensuring the platform was safe and clean ready for the morning commuters.
